A well-executed city staycation can be just as relaxing as a week-long holiday. You are not far from home and the point of a staycation is that you feel you have got away to take a break. Staying in a luxury suite close to home is a good way to do that and that’s what I did, although the practical side of me ensured my staycation was also aligned to a day of a friend’s wedding I attended in the city. I’ve attended many weddings in the city and they are always late nights and by the time you get home and get ready for bed it’s always around AM and you waste the following morning sleeping in. Not to mention if you are planning to drink at a wedding, you have to factor in how you are going to get home, particularly if you live a bit further out from the city.
A great, well located place to stay is the Fraser Suites in Sydney. It’s well located because it’s on Kent Street towards the Town Hall end, and a convenient walking distance to bustling Regents Place and World Square, the heart of Sydney’s cultural food and retail outlets. In fact it’s a walkable distance to major shopping and dining venues in Sydney including the Queen Victoria Building, Darling Harbour, and Chinatown. If you want to venture out to Circular Quay and the Sydney Harbour and The Rocks area, you can walk and catch the train from Town Hall Station to Circular Quay station.
The suite we stayed in was a One Bedroom Executive suite with the inclusion of a buffet breakfast parking, Wi-Fi and late checkout which is a dream if the morning after a wedding is a Sunday. The champagne, large fruit bowl and bathrobe with the words ‘Suite Life’ on arrival was a nice touch too and the buffet breakfast inclusion was also a delicious inclusion and convenient for those who don’t want to wander outside on a Sunday morning for breakfast.
The room was just as good as a high end hotel, if not better with a generous and comfortable space and 270 degree panoramic view of Sydney facing west. What you’ll get in each suite are contemporary interior furnishings, flat-screen TVs, sound systems, L’occitane amenities, Nespresso machines and complimentary high-speed WiFi throughout the hotel. Designed by Sir Norman Foster, this is a 42-storey glass high-rise that boasts 201 luxury serviced apartments including studios, one and two bedroom suites as well as two or three bedroom duplex penthouse suites. With only 7 apartments on each floor, this gives you a sense of privacy and exclusivity. With this one bedroom Executive apartment I stayed in, with 270 degree panoramic views of Sydney, you're looking about A$405 per night. Studios are about from A$300 per night, some one bedders are A$355 per night and two bedroom Executive apartments are about A$725 per night (price may vary so you should check their website for the latest deals and pricing).
I found this an excellent luxury style serviced apartment stay in Sydney for those looking for modern and fully furnished with kitchen amenities and I would come back and do another staycation here again. Don’t forget to leave the room for spontaneous city discoveries!
