The Westin Sydney Sunday Brunch

Sundays are my sacred days for rest and recovery. As I work in the city during the week I usually don’t venture out to the city on the weekends all that much but I would not say no to a Sunday brunch experience at the Mosaic at The Westin Sydney. We turned up at 12.30pm, at the Mosaic today, took our time and dined well for brunch. Sydney hotels have some excellent deals happening at the moment and at The Westin Sydney you can have a full buffet brunch for $68 per person or $34 for children. This includes all you can eat cold, hot and dessert buffet together with fresh juices, tea and coffee. The venue is beautiful and the grandeur of architecture and interiors of The Westin Sydney will hypnotise you like a cobra. Set in an 1844 building with a modern annexe, it’s a sophisticated, spacious, light and airy, chic downtown hotel but without the feel of formality, enabling you to just relax and enjoy a Sunday meal. And ‘a meal’ would be an understatement. It is possible to eat enough food so that brunch at the Mosaic is the only meal you have for the day!

Abode Bistro and Bar at the Park Royal Darling Harbour

I was invited to the try the tasting menu of Abode Bistro and Bar at the Park Royal Darling Harbour which I was only too happy to go as I’m always on a look out for a list of venues I can roll off my tongue to recommend to my colleagues for business dining during the work week. The criteria is that it needs to be in the Sydney CBD, elegant, refined but not too refined, not too noisy so you can hear the other person speak with ease, a good menu, good wines, great coffee, exceptional service and consistency because you really only have that small lunch slot during your work day so efficiency is important.

Weekend recipe :: Pesto Pappardelle with Chilli Tuna and Asparagus

I look at recipes all the time but I rarely follow them word for word as I like to experiment, thinking "what if I added this instead?".

Cooking From The Source with Lonely Planet

I like to cook. That hasn't always been the case but it has been in the past few years or so. I like the process of creation as it allows you to think about your ingredients, the flavours that go together, what to get, how to prepare it, and how it should be presented, what it should look like. But sometimes in the process of cooking with music from the radio in the background (I'm really hooked on 95.3 Smooth FM as my cooking music), it makes you reflect about the people you come across and the stories they tell you well before getting to the stage of simply having lunch or serving a dish at the table. Today I witnessed something quite extraordinary ... an extraordinary act of kindness.
